Do I have to be able to sing or have any talent whatsoever?
No! No! No! Not matter what you think of your voice or ability, when you are singing along with 30 other people you will not stand out from the crowd. Just come along and have FUN! Also, Toni teaches nuggets of vocal techniques every week so you will learn to sing in time. No ability is needed at all.
Does the choir sound good?
Pretty much everyone in the choir is a novice – but the choir sounds EPIC! Wherever we play we go down a storm and always get asked to return. Check out our gig list and come and see us!
What type of music do you sing?
We sing mainly rock and pop. To give a few examples we sing tunes by Queen, Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi, Nirvana, Elton John, Billy Joel, Evanescence, and many more.
What is the cost?
£7 a session if you block book, or £9 a session if you pay as you go. If you just want to give it a try, pay for a £9 session and see if it is for you. Payment is in cash on the night. There are no contracts or tie ins.
I’m scared. I’m nervous. I don’t think I’m brave enough to come along?
Everyone is so very welcoming and if you pluck up the courage to come along on your own, you won’t be alone for long! You will be buddied up with someone on arrival who will look after you until you make lots of new friends. Why not fill in the contact form on this site here, and Toni will get in touch with you which may put you at ease. There’s nothing to be scared of just give it a try!
Do I need to be able to read music?
Absolutely not. Most of our choir members cannot read music. You will be given word sheets and taught everything by ear. For those people who do read music, some songs can be issued with the scores.
Do I have to attend the concerts?
Not if you don’t want to. Some people decide that performing isn’t for them, in which case they sometimes come along and just be a part of the event. Some people don’t have time to do the concerts and that’s absolutely fine too. We always have enough people to be able to perform confidently.
Is there a uniform for concerts?
Yes. Dark bottom half, and we have Voices Of Rock t shirts which can be bought for £12. Alternatively, just wear a plain black top half too – there is no pressure at all to buy a t shirt.
How is money raised for charity at concerts?
We have a showcase once a year just before christmas where we raise the most money. At this event we do all sorts of fundraising. At most events, we put out the banners and buckets for Martin House and members of the public donate.
